Goodbye

Warning: If you're of a sensitive nature, turn away now. Trust me, your sanity will thank you.

I quit. I’ve tried to convince myself maybe people like my writing and that I’ve something to offer, but I can’t. Not anymore.

My vampire Victorian paranormal mystery NaNoWriMo project has been deleted. Same with all my angel urban fantasies. Why? People don’t want to read them. Who am I kidding? Myself? Sorry, I’m not that stupid.

Thing is, I actually enjoyed writing these stories. I even liked this year’s NaNo project. I enjoyed writing about the relationship between Stephen and Nathan, exploring Nathan's desire to redeem himself. I liked writing the angel UF, twisting the notions of good and evil, challenging people’s perceptions.

To you writer types, I wish you all the best on your projects.

Maybe my perception will change. I don't know. I'd like to hope it will. I'd like to believe in something.

I am sorry to hear this, Pamela.

I hope you will reconsider and take a break, rather than give up completely.

It sounds like you have the middle of November NaNoWrimo Blues. I'm so far behind I may not make it but I figure any writing is good even if I don't finish.

I don't know if anyone will ever read my books either BUT it's good for ME to write. It sounds like from this post, and the one before it that writing is good for you too.

Besides, what's it hurt to write? Its not like, "If I stop smoking, I may feel healthier." or "If I stop going to the mall every Saturday I might save some money." BUT "If I stop writing ..." What? I got nothing. No big perks to stopping.

It doesn't cost anything, it's good for your brain, and the more you do it the better you get. By exercising your brain you keep it healthy by using it -- as opposed to mindlessly watching reality TV.:)

So do it for yourself and don't worry about everyone else.

Hi HistorySleuth, nice to meet you. (Waves.) I think you're right. I'd pushed to get a story and revision done in October then dived straight into NaNo. Maybe I did burn myself out, however briefly. :-) But no matter what, I always seem to come back to the writing. Can't seem to give it up.
